COLOR FILLED EMBLEMS:
Die Struck, cloisonne emblems start with a piece of flat metal being pressed into a hand engraved steel die.
The design is transferred from the die onto the metal. In the design, ridges are required to separate the various areas which are to receive the different colors. Unlike a printed process where colors can be printed next to each other, there must be dividing walls to keep the colors from mixing together. The "valleys" formed by these dividing walls may then be color filled with either cloisonne (hard fired enamel) or jeweler's enamel.
